Th-1 type cytokine response predominate in patients with mild or moderate forms of pulmonary TB
Th-2 type cytokine response prevails in the severe disease.
If the immune response fails to definitly eradicate the pathogen, a chronic infection is established and it is likely that a broad range of regulatory mechanisms operate in this situation. (more…)
